my two favorite things about pilates class:

1. a completely ridiculous move that always reminds me of my favorite part of harriet the spy: ms. berry, her nutty dance teacher, tells her to go home and practice being an onion for their thanksgiving extravaganza. harriet spends the better part of the afternoon rolling around on the floor of her bedroom, in an effort to better embrace her onion-ness.

2. the gorgeous, limber woman who was next to me and could not stop farting all night long.

oktoberfest at the brooklyn botanical garden

the linnaean libation league held its second gathering on thursday, this time celebrating oktoberfest. there were 3 delicious beers and 1 hard cider, coupled with a bounty of cheese, bread and rick's pick's pickles. i forgot my camera, but you can see more photos here

chronic city

in honor of his new book, he's doing a marathon book reading tour through nyc (but mostly brooklyn). reading at 7 locations over the course of 8 nights, and one of the stops is the new bookstore in my neighborhood, greenlight. so great.
